The Role

Innovate Consulting is seeking a Financial Analyst for an oil and gas company located in Houston, TX!

The Financial Analyst is to sit at the intersection of finance and operations. You'll turn fleet and field data into financial insight that drives how we deploy units, price contracts, and invest capital. You'll report to the CFO and work closely with other members of leadership — your analysis will land in front of them every week.

This is a high-visibility seat. You'll build things from scratch, not just update templates someone else made. This role is based in our Houston office, five days a week — we believe finance and operations work best shoulder-to-shoulder.

What you'll do

  • Build and own a unit-level P&L tying our ERP (Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central) to fleet data — unit, HP class, customer, contract, location
  • Produce the monthly financial and operational reporting package for leadership and lenders, including written variance commentary
  • Develop a driver-based forecast built up from deployed HP × rate × utilization
  • Evaluate new unit deployments and assist sales with onboarding new customers.
  • Analyze customer and contract profitability to support pricing and renewal decisions
  • Partner with Operations on weekly scorecards covering utilization, run-time, and R&M spend
  • Support treasury and lender reporting — borrowing base, covenants, KPIs
  • Jump on ad hoc work: M&A diligence, credit reviews, scenario planning

What you bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Analytics, or related field
  • 3–6 years in FP&A, operations finance, commercial analytics, or corporate finance
  • Advanced Excel, including Power Query — you build models from scratch
  • Hands-on experience with Power BI, Power Pivot, or SQL — you can pull and shape data on your own
  • Strong written communication — you can explain “why the number is what it is” to a field supervisor or a board member
  • A bias for tying operational data to financial outcomes

Nice to Have

  • Experience in contract compression, oilfield services, midstream, equipment rental, or another asset-utilization business
  • Working knowledge of Dynamics 365 Business Central or a comparable mid-market ERP
  • Exposure to borrowing base or asset-based lending reporting
