CAD Drafter – Electrical Equipment Manufacturing

Innovate Consulting is partnering with a growing leader in custom electrical equipment and industrial control systems manufacturing to hire an experienced CAD Drafter. This individual will support the engineering team by developing and maintaining detailed electrical drawings used in the design and production of custom switchboards, control panels, and power distribution equipment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically proficient, and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where every project is built to customer specifications. This will be an onsite position in Conroe, TX.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and revise detailed electrical drawings and layouts using AutoCAD for new equipment, retrofit projects, and customer-specific modifications.
• Develop wiring diagrams, panel layouts, fabrication drawings, and assembly documentation to support manufacturing.
• Review engineering markups, one-line diagrams, schematics, and customer documentation to produce accurate design packages.
• Maintain drawing standards, templates, and revision control throughout the project lifecycle.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and production teams to ensure designs are accurate, manufacturable, and delivered on schedule.
• Interpret customer specifications and incorporate project requirements into completed drawing packages.
• Generate and maintain Bills of Material (BOMs) for manufacturing and procurement.
• Evaluate designs for manufacturability and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Support engineering change requests and update existing drawings as projects evolve.
• Continuously expand knowledge of electrical equipment, drafting standards, and applicable industry codes.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Drafting, Design Technology, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Minimum of 2 years of CAD drafting experience supporting electrical equipment manufacturing, industrial controls, switchgear, switchboards, panel fabrication, or similar products.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD; AutoCAD Electrical experience is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical one-line diagrams, wiring schematics, and engineering drawings.
• Experience creating detailed fabrication drawings and supporting documentation for manufacturing.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a cross-functional team.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to successfully complete pre-employment drug screening, background check, and other employment requirements.
• Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds and perform the physical requirements of a manufacturing environment, including prolonged sitting, standing, and walking.
