We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Shop Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering and control systems design, with hands-on experience in control panel design and creation. This role involves creating and reviewing AutoCAD/EPLAN prints, specifying components, creating bills of material, and ensuring the quality of builds.
Responsibilities
- Design control panels, including motor starters, VFDs, and auxiliary controls.
- Develop and review schematics and layout drawings using AutoCAD and EPLAN software.
- Specify components and create comprehensive bills of material for projects.
- Perform quality checks on builds to ensure adherence to design specifications and standards.
- Collaborate with other engineers and technicians to ensure successful project completion.
- Other duties as assigned by leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in control systems design and control panel design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or EPLAN for creating schematics and layout drawings.
- Strong knowledge of electrical components and their specifications.
- Experience in specifying components and creating bills of material.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Knowledge of UL508A standards and requirements preferred.
- Experience with PLC programming and system design would be valuable.
- Prior experience working in a panel shop environment is ideal.
- Familiarity with products and components from major manufacturers such as ABB, Rockwell, Danfoss, and SEL.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly works around moving mechanical parts and in warehouse conditions that are not always climate controlled and may include, heat and humidity.
- Noise level may be loud at times.
- Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.
