Job Title: Engineer III
Job Summary
The Engineer III is a senior-level engineering professional responsible for leading complex technical work, providing subject matter expertise, and driving project execution. This role operates with minimal supervision, contributes to strategic decision-making, and mentors junior engineers while ensuring high-quality engineering deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and optimization of systems, components, or processes
- Execute complex engineering analyses, calculations, and evaluations
- Oversee projects or major project components from concept through completion
- Develop and review technical specifications, drawings, and documentation
- Serve as a technical authority in a specific discipline or area of expertise
- Identify risks and implement effective mitigation strategies
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and safety requirements
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, clients, and external stakeholders
- Support project planning, including scope development, budgeting, and scheduling
- Review and approve engineering work completed by junior staff
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to Engineer I/II and technicians
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, innovation, and best practices
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Chemical, or related field)
- 5–8+ years of relevant engineering experience
- Strong knowledge of engineering principles, standards, and industry practices
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex technical projects or assignments
- Proficiency in relevant engineering tools and software (e.g., CAD, analysis tools)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification
- Experience leading multidisciplinary projects
- Industry-specific expertise (e.g., oil & gas, energy, manufacturing, infrastructure)
- Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools
- Experience with advanced analysis, modeling, or automation systems
- Experience in power distribution design and consulting, arc flash studies, and relay settings development would be the focus
